Kevin Castellano
Prior to founding Matthews South, Kevin was a Vice President in the Structured Equity Group at Goldman Sachs. At Goldman, Kevin worked with clients to buy back stock and raise capital through equity-linked securities. In 2011, Kevin relocated to Goldman’s San Francisco office to focus on advising west coast clients. Kevin graduated from Wharton with a B.S. in Economics.
Vijay Culas
Vijay founded Matthews South with a mission of leveraging technology to increase transparency in the capital markets, deliver powerful analytics and help clients have greater control over their capital markets transactions. Prior to founding Matthews South, Vijay was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs and head of its Structured Equity Group and West Region Equity Capital Markets. During his 17 years at Goldman, Vijay was a member of the Technology, Investment Banking, Equity Capital Markets and Structured Equity groups. Vijay graduated from Harvard with an A.B. in Government.
Gian-Marco Frey
Gianni joined Matthews South in 2022 with over a decade of capital markets and quantitative research experience at both large investment banks and buyside institutions. He previously worked at Morgan Stanley in Exotics Trading and Structuring and at AQR as Portfolio Manager and Product Researcher. Before, he spent 7 years at Goldman Sachs in the Structured Equity Group in London and New York. Gianni holds Master’s degrees in Computer Science as well as Quantitative Economics and Finance from ETH Zürich and the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Chip Gibbs
Chip joined Matthews South in 2018. Prior to joining Matthews South, Chip was a Managing Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch for 16 years and was the head of the BAML’s Share Repurchase Desk responsible for advising U.S Corporates across all industries regarding open market repurchases, structured repurchases and capital structure. Chip graduated from St. Mary’s College with an B.A. in Business Administration with a focus in Economics.
Bryan Goldstein
Bryan joined Matthews South in 2017. Before joining Matthews South, Bryan was a Vice President in the Structured Equity Group at Goldman Sachs for 10 years. At Goldman, Bryan ran the advisory and execution efforts of equity derivatives and convertible bonds within the Consumer / Retail, Financial Institution and Real Estate sectors. Bryan graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S.E. in Aerospace Engineering.
Jared Kramer
Jared joined Matthews South in 2016. Before Matthews South, Jared was a Vice President in the Structured Equity Group at Goldman Sachs for 9 years. Prior to Goldman, Jared was a financing attorney at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. Jared graduated from Princeton with a B.S. in Computer Science, and received his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Vahagn Minasian
Before founding Matthews South, Vahagn was a Managing Director of Volatility Strategies at Goldman Sachs. During his 10 years at Goldman, Vahagn worked on modeling and risk management tools for share repurchase, convertible bonds and other derivative products for the Securities Division. Prior to Goldman, Vahagn was a Postdoctoral Scholar at Northwestern University and a Tamarkin Assistant Professor at Brown University. Vahagn graduated from the University of Illinois with a Ph.D in Mathematics.
Dhruv Sanger
Dhruv joined Matthews South in 2024. Before joining Matthews South, Dhruv was a Senior Finance Manager responsible for Capital Markets and Corporate Development at Honor Technology, a pre-IPO Healthcare Services company. Prior to that, Dhruv was an associate in the Structured Equity Solutions Group at Morgan Stanley for 5 years. At Morgan Stanley, Dhruv led the advisory, structuring, and execution efforts of equity-linked financings, share repurchases and corporate equity derivatives within the Healthcare, Technology, and Media & Communications sectors. Dhruv graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in Economics and Finance.
Beesham A Seecharan
Beesham joined Matthews South in 2021. Before joining Matthews South, Beesham was a Managing Director & Senior Counsel for Global Markets at Goldman Sachs. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Beesham covered equity derivatives as a lawyer at JPMorgan Chase. Beesham started his legal career in the New York and London offices of Davis Polk & Wardwell. In these prior roles, Beesham has over two decades experience advising, structuring and negotiating equity derivatives and other public and private capital markets transactions and has advised on over $500 billion of transactions for issuers and shareholders globally. Beesham graduated from Stanford with an A.B. in International Relations and an M.S. in Mathematics and received his J.D and Parker School Certificate in International and Comparative Law from Columbia Law School.
Sheng Wang
Sheng joined Matthews South in 2015. Before Matthews South, Sheng worked at Goldman Sachs for 5 years in the Securities Division. At Goldman, Sheng helped build and improve financial models that priced and measured the risk of equities, fixed income, currency and commodities. Prior to Goldman, Sheng was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Chicago for 3 years. Sheng graduated from Columbia University with a Ph.D in Physics.
Kristina Woodhouse
Kristina joined Matthews South in 2020. Before joining Matthews South, Kristina was a Vice President in the Equity Linked & Hybrid Solutions Group at Barclays for 7 years. At Barclays, Kristina led the advisory, structuring and execution efforts of equity derivatives, convertible bonds, and share repurchases within the Healthcare, Industrials and Consumer Retail sectors. Originally from Bosnia, Kristina moved to the United States to attend the United World College and subsequently Dartmouth and Colby College. Kristina holds a M.S. and B.E. in Biochemical Engineering from Dartmouth College and a B.A. in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Colby College.
Laurence Xu
Laurence joined Matthews South in 2023. Before joining Matthews South, Laurence was an investment banking associate in the Equity-Linked Capital Markets team at J.P. Morgan for 3 years. During his 3 years at J.P. Morgan, Laurence led the advisory, structuring and execution efforts of equity-linked and corporate equity derivatives within the Healthcare, Financials and Consumer Retail sectors. Originally from China, Laurence graduated from the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Finance and Statistics.
